This is about as cold as Whistler gets, nudging -20 is cold in anyone books (surely?).
My friend Sarah went up today, and took that picture of Emily rugging up against the elements. Not surprisingly, the top of 7th Heaven was being hit hard by the cold arctic wind. It was Sarah’s first chance in a while to ski, and overall she had a good day on the groomers, spending longer on the mountain than anticipated. She found lower 7th, and Solar Coaster region (out of the wind) were in great shape, and the sun helped ‘feel’ a bit warmer. Skiing out to the bottom, she enjoyed all the ‘powder’ the snowmaking department is pumping out right now. It was good to hear the excitement in her voice as she recounted the day.
Personally, I spent today catching up on the work I have been ‘sweeping under the rug’ lately. The weather is expected to remain cold, dry and windy until next weekend, so I will probably continue doing so. Still, I will have to find time for at least a couple of runs
Skiing is fun.
