Today was mainly sunny, therefore fantastic visibility – so all the pow stashes left from yesterday became free game. While not in the same league as yesterday, the skiing today was great. Plenty of big pockets of pow around.

Chatting with friends last night, I realized I had not ridden Harmony chair since 2009 – so I decided to go check it out. I rarely ride this chair, mainly because I find a lot of the terrain gets ‘damaged’ by traverse lines and the lift line can get huge! Today the line was 5 minutes max (singles line), and while the traverse lines were around the snow conditions more than made up for it. Boomer Bowl in particular gave me a number of fresh turns :)

With our big snow base, a lot of Harmony looks different to normal.

Check out those cornices on the Horseshoes! I had a closer look at 3 of them (7,5 and McConkeys) and the smallest drop-in I found was at least 5-6 feet. McConkeys had it’s usually ski-in route on skiers right, and looking from the chair the terrain below it is close to filled in.

I remember a sick run I had down there last year while on an Extremely Canadian course – best 2 days of last season. The deep powder on those days certainly helped, and I will remember my runs down McConkeys and Robertsons for a long time. Today was not as good…..

My plan was to hike Fluke, but from the top of Harmony Ridge it looked like an army of ants making the ascent, so I stuck to Harmony chair for a few quick laps. My best line was actually on the Head Wall (near T-bars) where I found some untouched pow.

Looks like a few more sunny days than another big storm around Friday into the weekend. Who likes skiing powder in April? :D

Those runs on Robertsons and McConkeys were insane. Deepest snow I think I’ve ever skied.

I haven’t skied those runs for a while, good to hear they are as epic as ever.

Seriously, the conditions are so good right now you can ski anything and get faceshots :)

Edit: I skied Robertsons on Friday the 9th April, and it was steep and deep!
