Another great day to be skiing Whistler Blackcomb. Here is a report from Sarah:

Today on Whistler was awesome. There was only 13cm new overnight, but it felt like a lot more. Down in the treeline near the terrain park and next to the Family Zone etc was awesome. Lots of fluffy stuff that was easy to ski. The trees there are super wide apart so we ducked in and out of them. Great if you’re just learning to ski trees.

The alpine was also great although for one run it was ‘pea soup’ – completely fogged in. Then the sun came out. You could tell that it had been windy, though, as some sheltered areas were wind loaded and fantastic, but more exposed areas were hard and crusty. Overall the conditions were awesome and the lift lines were virtually nil.

Last run was down Upper Franz’s to download on the Creekside gondola (my legs were beat!). That took us through the skier’s tunnel under the Women’s downhill course. There’s no avoiding it now as final preparations are made for the Olympics.

The photos in this post are of the tunnel which goes under the Women’s Downhill course for the 2010 Olympics. It has been put there to allow the public to ski be able to ski parts of Whistler Mountain while the Olympics are on.
