While we haven’t had much new snow, what we have received is certainly helping our conditions.
Overall, this new snow is really just ‘dust on crust’ but given time, it will help make everything better again. The groomed runs are still relatively hard packed with icy patches (as they have been for a while now) but today you could find a few runs that were already showing signs of improvement.
The alpine is still a big tease, with conditions that leave a lot to be desired – but at least it is open. Highway 86 was open, but the majority of stuff back there was in pretty bad shape (big lumpy clumps of snow). I didn’t go down Peak to Creek, but will do tomorrow.
The visibility was decent, but at times a bit of a flat light – especially in the Harmony zone.
The forecast is calling for a decent dump (10-20cm) to arrive towards the end of the weekend, and if we get little flurries before, and the dump eventuates, we might just have some good skiing next week.
Sorry about the quick report today, but I am in a hurry.

Skied the majority of the day on Blackcomb again today. One of the first runs we did was Where’s Joe. We still don’t know where he is and we all joked that if we find him we are going to kick his ass. Not good conditions at all on that run (icy, rocky, trees sticking up etc.). Did notice a lot of trees with Bear fur stuck to them so that was cool to see. Yard Sale was in much better condition. Also went up the 7th Heaven and conditions were good. Could not imagine a better view anywhere in the resort than down Cloud Nine. Looking forward to the snow coming the rest of the week. Conditions should be great next week as long as the weather stays cold. Of course we leave Saturday.
Greg – sorry I haven’t called yet. Would still love to get together. You available Thursday night for dinner?
Tonight we are taking a snow mobile trip up Blackcomb for Fondue (kindof chicky but for 4 guys but its supposed to be worth the trip).
Great to hear things are improving as i arrive on Saturday for 2 weeks. Greg would be my pleaseure to buy an Aussie a drink while i am there as i am a coming from NZ we are kind the same country some people seem to think hahah. Bring on the pow time!
Inversion is gone for Thursday. Is that a good thing?
Dan, those tree runs off the cat track to 7th are a little bare this year. So probably not the best place to be….. I hope you enjoyed the fondue dinner, never done it myself, but have heard great things about it. I will get in touch about catching up.
Simon, conditions are definitely improving, maybe by the time you are here, we might be back to ‘Whistler conditions’ *fingers crossed* and Kiwis are always allowed to buy us Aussies some beer (in fact isn’t that a law somewhere)
Nick, yup the inversion is gone, can be a good or bad thing, right now I am happy as it has been caused by this new weather pattern coming in – which is supposed to bring snow !!
