Today I took up my Rossi carving skis and had a blast. They hold such a good edge, that the groomed runs around Crystal zone were a joy. I must remember to use them more often, as they really improved my edges control/grip, while still being a lot of fun. Maybe it is just Crystal, but the groomed runs were really good – in fact I would say they are fairly soft for the majority of the run…
The Rossi’s are a lot heavier than my normal skis, and I find it a lot harder to do little jumps and stuff – although I think I am working that out ( just need more speed :) )

My last few days have been on Whistler, where it is busier and the snow more compacted into the runs. Whistler has more people on it virtually every day of the season, but it always seems way more stacked during the holiday periods ( I guess when people go to Whistler, they want to ski Whistler, and not Blackcomb ).

It started out a nice sunny day, which was awesome. Clear skies and great views. I guess around 1pm it started to cloud over, bringing a flat light (bearable) but by the end of the day the light was really flat. My trip down the glacier in the afternoon, was a combination of what seemed like perfect snow conditions (smooth, soft, consistent) only I couldn’t see the snow in order to verify this – it just felt nice :)

Still, a smile on my face again.

Nice. How are the conditions at the beginning of the day compared to the end?

  2. I think the snow is better in the afternoon. Just a little bit softer from all the sunshine I guess. Groomers are staying in good shape all day, a little choppy by the end, but not as bad as it can be.

My last two days I pretty much spent all my time in the Crystal Zone. From what I could tell it had the best snow on either mountain.
