A friend of mine pointed out a new (to me) website, which is the official website of the village of Whistler for the 2010 Olympic games. Strange how I have never come across it before, but there you go. It is operated by the Resort Municipality of Whistler.
It is full of information for both visitors and locals, so I suggest you take a peek and spend some time exploring it.
In particular interest to the locals, is the parking restrictions. It is very hard to summarize, but basically everything is closed during the month of February. On top of that, lots 7 and 8 are closed all season. Lots 4,5 and 6 are also closed for the vast majority of March.
This leads to another piece of the pie that many locals are wondering about – the bus schedules during these times of ‘no parking’. We have heard many rumors, and finally BC Transit have released some preliminary details HERE. Basically, the Village Shuttle will run every 5 minutes, while the other major routes will be running every 7 minutes. They have also announced some new routes which run from every 10 minutes to 40 minutes. These new routes are to help service the residents that do not live near existing bus routes.
The price of a bus pass for the month of February is $38.50, or $2 a trip if you pay-as-you-go. People with event tickets get free travel for the day of the event. Sounds as reasonable as can be expected, so I am happy.
Update: The Village Shuttle service, which is currently free, will cost $2 each way during the Olympics (or the flash of a monthly pass) – transfers are available. This information is available on this page of the website mentioned above.
The photo used in the main page image slider is from the BC Transit website, and all copyright etc belongs to them. If anyone knows the legalities of me using it, I would love to hear from you. Thank-you.

Have you heard if BC Transit are changing the village shuttle from a free service to a $2 service during February, there is some talk about this, I cannot seem to find anything about it on BC Transit schedule for 2010.
