Thanks for the report Lorence. I am glad you enjoyed yourself, and you are right – you can’t please all the people all the time. The current sunshine is certainly what a lot of people want.
You should consider next year, as the official story is that host resort have quiet seasons (and Whistler is only hosting a few events in reality).

I have just spent the padt 10 days in Whistler and I have had the best boarding holiday. Like Scott said, unless you’re into really steep climbs and heavy off-piste action, then you will enjoy. The best for me has been Whistler runs (Franz??) and 7th Heavan. Clound Nine is a great run. Whilst 4m snow depth would be awesome, the sunshine and visibility has been extraordinary. Like in life, you can have it all. Thanks for the comments and hope to be back in a few years.

Hey Scott, I agree with everything you are saying – except about ‘fine’ coverage on the groomed runs. There are plenty of rocks showing through on numerous runs. The grooming itself is great as always – but if the rocks are uncovered, what can you do?
I would not want to be buying an ex-rental ski from this seasons’s fleet.
I believe the skiing in the valley is awesome considering the lack of snow – lucky it has been so cold most of the time. However, the alpine region is really showing the lack of a snow base.
Most people I am chatting with on the chairs are loving their holiday and the skiing conditions. A great season for photos.

I think people are getting the wrong image of how Whistler is looking at the moment. Yes the snowfall isnt as much as it usually is and below last year, but its not like there is grass on village level runs. The conditions are icy and hard but the snow depth dosn’t really make much difference in that aspect.
If your into groomers you wont notice the difference from this year to last, as the coverage is fine. If your into steep and deep, then its not. There is no powder to be had right now unless you go backcountry. But if we get a decent snowfall the conditions would be great again.
Please don’t read too much into there being ‘no snow’ at whistler because there is, just not as much accumulative as last year.
If your planning a trip here, you will enjoy it, maybe even more so as its been quite sunny yet cold.

Hey Diego, I can’t see the conditions in March being much different to now – so you will probably end up with sunny days. The snow coverage isn’t great, but it is still enough for lots of skiing. I am pretty confident you will lots of runs that are fun / challenging.

Larsson, this season sure is a bit under weight ….. I don’t think it will be as bad as the 03/04 season number wise – but really close to.
I would think the Olympics would be extremely happy to have this season next year. Plenty of snow to host a race, with lots of sunshine – which makes great visibility and the media loves it. Great racing conditions, but not the best for exploring……

Your updates continue to be the most informative and insightful about Whistler conditions. Boy, this season is light on the white stuff. Will it set records for all the wrong reasons if March doesn’t shape up?
