Another sunny day, we have had quite of few of these lately. Usual story, no one skiing the mountains and everyone is loving cruising the groomers. The forecast looks pretty good too, for a skier, with snow for the higher elevations – but not for the Olympics. It sounds like Cypress mountain down near Vancouver is facing the prospect of lots of rain during the opening weekend. Whistler too will get rain on the lower mountain which is where the races take place. Unlike Cypress, I don’t think snow coverage is going to be too much of an issue for us. The warmer temps in the valley though, makes for softer snow, which is not what they want – they want to race on ice (crazy I know, but that’s the way they like it :) )

After a big length of absence, I am now back to having free time and am looking forward to skiing the alpine. Especially with the new snow expected this weekend. It’s going to be a big few weeks!

Hopefully the Games are a success, we are about to find out.

Update: Google has released ‘Street View’ for Whistler and Blackcomb mountains. Click here to check it out, you begin at the Start Gate for the Dave Murray Downhill.
