Congratulations Alexandre Bilodeau on being the first Canadian to win Gold on home soil !!!! Mens Moguls Champion !!!
What a run! Fast, Big Air and well controlled – more than deserving of the win.
I spent the day at the Whistler Sliding Center, watching the Mens Luge finals. Germany came through with a 1 – 2 win, with the best placed Canadian being Samuel Edney at 7th. The best finish ever for a Canuck in this event – so congrats again ![]()
Here is another shot of the Sliding center, with Sproatt mountain in the background – I think it is a great view
Today, the Mens Downhill should be on – Good luck to all the athletes, but especially the 2 local boys, Manny and Robbie – Go Canada Go !!!

Great shots Greg! Any tips for the best viewing spot at the Sliding Centre? I’ve got general admission tickets for the Skeleton on Thursday…
Hi Kyle, There are plenty of good viewing spots, unfortunately they are being a little bit of a fun-police this year, not allowing you to climb onto snowbanks and the like for better angles (even though the police and accredited photographers are allowed to) – double standards….
Anyway, I suggest when you first get there, make your way to the starting corner, and check it out. Then, slowly make you way down the track, checking out each corner as you go. I tend to watch 3-4 at most corners before moving on.
It is a lot of vertical, so if you try to walk UP during the event, you will probably miss a few sliders.
There will be two runs, I tend to walk back up to the top during the break, and end up at the bottom to by the time the last few sliders are on the track (who are the medalists since the quickest sliders go last)
If you want to see more photos of the Sliding Center, check out my pics from last years World Cup.

Pages 2 onwards there are Luge, Skeleton and Bobsled
4 Man Bobsled is crazy, it is so loud it sounds like a train coming towards you, and you can hear it coming a number of corners away.
Awesome, thanks for the info!
