Olympics – Day 2

There was a strong, cold wind around the Roundhouse level, but once out of it, the weather was mild and the skiing great. The snow remained great until the bottom of Emerald chair, but became heavy smoo just below.

First Competition of the Olympics

Today, I got to watch the first competition in the 2010 Winter Olympic Games – a qualifying round for the Short Hill Ski Jumping. The first medal events take place tomorrow, with the Mens Downhill and Moguls among the list. As for the ski jumping, it must take a lot of courage to fly off those things at around 90klms/hr.

Olympics Eve

So, as far as skiing, Whistler is pretty darn sweet right now. Visibility would be the only complaint for most people, as it can vary a lot during weather systems. Regardless, we are about to get to ski some powder :)

Perfect Groomers

What a day, absolutely perfect groomer skiing, and great snow overall. We ended up just blasting run after run on piste, since it was perfectly groomed with no one around. It was almost like skiing our own Olympics. Off-piste was fun, but when you see untouched groomed – you ski it.

Lots of Sunshine
