What a beautiful view to wake up too ![]()
It was another fantastic day to be skiing Whistler. The overnight snowfall was reported as 4cm, but it was deeper than that where I skied. I ended up spending my whole day on Harmony and Symphony chairs and had numerous deep freshies. My first run was KC Roll, very nice. It is in the sunshine at the top of this photo.
Next, we hit up Robertson’s and I was first into the clear cut far skier’s left. I have only ever skied this area a few times, but have loved it every time. I really must make a note to do it more often. Steeper than you think, and has always been deep, good snow.
Sun Bowl was great, but the next pitch onto the cat track was even better. Symphony zone is general was good, if only it was a little steeper.
That was a sick run down Flute Low Roll, here are some photos of the hike etc followed by a short video of me. I am just beaten to the final pitch by a snowboarder who does what snowboarders do best – take a wide line!

Symphony was great today, got 4-5 runs in before it got tracked out. Flute still looked good to go, so the plan is to get 2 runs of that in tomorrow morning before work. Good springs times!
you guys call quits? haven’t seen a report in ages…
Sorry I haven’t reported lately. I skied last satuday. It was a bit soggy and foggy but fantastic coverage from top to bottom. Everyone said that last Sunday was amazing.
One thing I’m upset about is that the mountain is closing for skiing before Memorial Day weekend. WB says it’s to create more of a separation between seasons. Except they are plugging “sightseeing”. And come on, you can’t really access the good hiking trails until mid-late July when the snow melts in the high alpine. Boo.
Hey Everyone, I wouldn’t say I have called it ‘quits’ on the season but I will probably only manage a few more days on the slopes. While this season should be as good as spring skiing gets, my mind has already turned to summer biking and climbing
Hi everyone, I skied yesterday, Saturday, May 8. Only Blackcomb was open from 10 am to 4 pm and we uploaded from Lot 6 with lots of other people, but it was never crowded. Until about 1 pm, conditions were crispy with some slushier sections here and there. Coverage is perfect and you can ski all the way down to the gondola download. The Glacier restaurant us fully open and there’s a great atmosphere this time of year.
Hi Laura,
Thanks for the update. I haven’t been up for a long time, but the weather now is perfect for some Spring skiing.
Sunny and Hot!
Today was perfect. Glorious spring skiing. Warm temps through the day. I wore my Goretex jacket around my waist all day. I was fine in a baselayer and light fleece.
It was a touch crispy first thing and most everything softened pretty quickly. For a sunny Saturday in May it was pretty quiet. No liftlines anywhere. Wonderful BBQ at Glacier Creek Restaurant. It was so quiet, they only opened half the tables in the restaurant.
My favourite run was Heavenly Basin into the Bite. The Bumps are perfect, slushy, but not too slushy. We skied Rock & Roll, Twist and Shout which are smooth and easy. Arthur’s Choice and Backstage Pass are closed; not sure why. There are no bare spots worth mentioning. It’ so good. You can still ski down to the gondola download.
Blackcomb Glacier was not open today but there was plenty of other great terrain to enjoy. Next weekend is your last chance.
Fantastic report Laura, thanks a lot
Sounds like you had a great day, and I am not surprised with the deep snow pack this Spring and the hot, sunny days we have been having.
Looks like this last week is going to be quite rainy, which is unfortunate.
Also, I believe the Blackcomb glacier has been closed for a while now (maybe open just on weekends?).
Either way, the season is coming to and end, and it sure was a good one.
Hi!
Is it OK if I ask something kinda off topic? I’m trying to view this page on my new iPad but it won’t show up properly, do you have any solutions? Should I try and find an update for my software or something? Thanks in advance! Jennine x
Hi Jennine,
Unfortunately I don’t have an iPad, or maybe I am actually lucky…. Either way, I am not too sure why the website wouldn’t work. I don’t use Flash, however the photos are using Jquery and Mootools scripts – so maybe that has something to do with it.
I use a different layout for mobile devices, which works fine on my Android phone and some friends iPhones. I am not sure if it would try and be used by the iPad.
In short, I have no idea but hope that anyone else with an iPad or other tablet device can reply and let me know if it works/doesn’t work for them.
